Mike Jeffrey

Has-been who signed on a free transfer from Dutch side Fortuna Sittard in July 2000. Jeffrey, who had played for teams such as Newcastle United and Rotherham United before moving to Holland, was said to be an aging attacker, but still had the ability to play Division 1 football to a high standard.

However, he had other ideas. Along with Paul Raven he was one of the last ever Alan Buckley signings, and probably one of the worst. He was a clone of Steve Livingstone but without the ginger hair. Jeffrey netted no more than 3 goals in his 2 year spell at Blundell Park, and despite being average at holding the ball up, he was a hopeless runner and shooter.

After an injury hit 2001/2002 season Jeffrey was released by Paul Groves and retired from the professional game. According to reports he know is a car salesman in his home town of Liverpool as well as playing amateur Liverpool league football.
