Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Town's AGM Looms

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 09/12/2003

IN 11 days time the annual Grimsby Town AGM is being held at Blundell Park. John Fenty and his board of directors deserve a pat on the back how they've juggled the financial aspects having lost out on millions of pounds due to the ITV Digital debacle.

Some supporters won't agree with my above statement but looking at the previous years the board aren't split by loyalties or warring factions and the Club looks the better for it.

Having been to these AGM’s over the years sometimes they are short and straight to the point; at other times they are long and drawn out. In the end they are to the benefit of shareholders who have invested their hard-earned money in shares with no return on their investment.

This year's AGM will be different due to a new block of shares being made available for supporters to buy during the summer, none of which were bought by the existing major shareholders.

So I wonder how many of the new shareholders will turn up and use their vote(s) and have a say in the day-to-day running of the Club? Another aspect of all this is the Supporters' Trust and how many shares they have bought with their members' money, and how much influence they will exert on the board.

By the 22nd of December this will all come out into the public domain. Messers Fenty and Rouse are up for re-election and from what they have done so far deserve to be re-elected to carry on their good work and continue stabilising the Club, which ultimately all the supporters want.

So roll on the 22nd Dec and I will be there to report back to the Fishy's readers on the goings on at this meeting.
