Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Dr Fishy Returns!

By: Dr Fishy
Date: 09/11/2003

NOW, I know what you're all thinking. I've been away for a while (and I'm sure you all missed me) but don't panic any longer. I have returned! Is the world not a dangerous enough place with Dr Fishy in it?

Home > 2003-2004 Season > Report Cards > QPR (h)

It was the FA Cup, and in true fashion, it presented me with the perfect stage to miraculously re-appear. Like the phoenix from the flames, like Dirty Den in EastEnders. ahem, I think I've said too much.

Anyway, moving swiftly on, here are my marks for Town's display against QPR on Saturday. The lads certainly did me proud, but Menno Willems is no longer around to beat about with a wooden stick.

Davison: I like this character. He's steady, in control and can dribble round Gareth Ainsworth. Gave away a corner relatively cheaply in the second half, but did keep a clean sheet.

Grade: C

McDermott: A sound performance from the captain. I don't really need to say much more.

Grade: C+

Barnard: See 'McDermott' (except for the captain bit).

Grade: C+

Crane: Won a lot in the air and made a couple of timely interceptions. Overall he was very competent.

Grade: B

Edwards: He is as laid back as Simon Ford but with the added bonus of being aware at the same time.

Grade: B-

Campbell: Although he's not that fast, I do think this lad has more skill about him than he lets on about.

Grade: C+

Anderson: He's a real threat at set pieces, but now seems to struggle when taking people on.

Grade: C

Hamilton: Ah, the man who never appears to have the ball under complete control. Not a bad game, nevertheless.

Grade: C+

Crowe: This terrier gets my man of the match vote and something different from a very boring C+ grade.

Grade: B+

Boulding: Nice goal, should have had one earlier though. Drifted out of the game for a while.

Grade: B-

Onuora: This was probably his best game for Town. He hit the bar, grabbed an assist for the goal and generally played well.

Grade: B-

Well, I have an unhealthy addiction with C+ grades, which has been pointed out to me in the past. Some fans have suggested that I have trouble being more flexible with my grades. Something of mine that isn't so flexible is my stick, which I tend to wave around a lot. Menno used to scream a lot when it hit him.

Anyway, that's it for now. I shall hopefully be back to grade the players after the Stockport game if all goes well. If the players don't want to incur the wrath of Dr Fishy, then they better win 3-0.

Or else my stick will be waving about again.

Grade Guide

A*This is almost impossible to achieve as I will refuse to give anyone this grade - unless they score six goals and get opposing players sent off.
AThis is more possible to achieve, although the player must have had a brilliant game i.e. he can't have put a foot wrong all match.
A-The player must have performed superbly, setting up goals, scoring goals, making match-winning tackles etc.
B+The player played to a very high standard indeed having been influential throughout the 90 minutes.
BThis can be achieved if the player had a very good game overall but could be forgiven for making one or two minor mistakes.
B-The player put in a performance worthy of special mention for his efforts on the pitch or otherwise having a good game.
C+A mark for players who have had an average game but at the same time played well in patches and may have had an impact on the final score.
CAn average performance but not worthy of being dropped for the next game - a competent performance.
C-Start thinking about the player's attitude and commitment on the pitch. Showed little effort and was probably invisible for most of the match.
D+Poor game and realistically shouldn't feature in the next game.
DThis player shouldn't be playing in the near future.
D-The player deserves to be fined for his abysmal performance
EThe player should be sacked
F And then shot
