Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

New Trial Player

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 28/03/2001

WEST HAM's 21-year-old midfielder Craig Etherington has been taken on trial by Grimsby with a view to a permanent move. Etherington, who was to play 2 games while at Blundell Park, would have featured in today's reserve fixture against Walsall, but the game was called of due to a waterlogged pitch.

With Etherington's contract ending in the summer, he is seeking another club and is prepared to move away from the London scene to kick start the Essex-born midfielder's career. The 21 year old joined Plymouth on transfer deadline day on loan from West Ham until the end of the 1999-2000 season. He is a strong and skilful midfielder and is an excellent prospect, making his Argyle debut in the 4-0 win at Torquay in March 2000.

Craig Etherington Profile:

Transferred to West Ham in Aug 97 from Welling where he was a trainee. Although Etherington has never made a first team appearance for the Hammers, he has had two loan spells - firstly with Halifax from February to March 1999, and then with Plymouth until June 2000.
