No News Is...News!

With the pantomime season in full swing, Lennie Lawrence has spoken of the latest lack of developments in Grimsby Town's seasonal tale of contradictions. Will Nielsen sign? "Oh yes, he will!" Then again, maybe not. Who knows? Not us.

"Nothing happened and we'll have to let it roll until after Christmas, maybe Thursday or Friday next week," said Lawrence, for whom hope springs eternal. In a statement that will doubtless draw the empathy of Grimsby fans throughout the world, the Mariners boss went on: "The whole thing is taking up far too great a proportion of my time." Lawrence also spoke of his frustration at not being able to enter dialogue with other players before the Nielsen situation is resolved: "I want to open negotiations with other players. It's just as important that I sign them. In the New Year there's a dozen I need to talk to." Meanwhile, in an exclusive six second interview with Mariners Net yesterday, Lawrence commented: "Hello, this is Lennie Lawrence. I want to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy Christmas on behalf of all at Grimsby Town Football Club." As Christmas approaches, it seems that it would be wise to make a heart-felt addition to Todd Bontoft's letter to Santa Claus: P.S. Please sort out this David Nielsen nonsense Santa, it's starting to bore us all silly and it's getting on everybody's wick - even poor old Lennie's. Oh, by the way, any chance of getting Luis Figo?
