Town Wait to Find Out 2nd Round Opponents

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/11/2022

GRIMSBY face an away tie in Round 2 of the FA Cup against either Cambridge or Curzon Ashton. Both sides are in the bottom third of their divisions (League One and National League North respectively).

Curzon play Cambridge away on Tuesday week, the first leg in Greater Manchester having ended goalless at the weekend.

The Mariners would be favourites to beat Curzon, and Cambridge would be expected to overturn the Mariners, but both ties are winnable, especicially given Town's 5-1 demolition of Plymouth in Round 1.

If Curzon win their away replay then the match is a good candidate to be televised, but otherwise Grimsby will take a good following to either venue. The ties will be played between Friday 25 November and Monday 28 November,

Curzon Ashton or Cambridge United v Grimsby Town
Wrexham v Farnborough
Accrington Stanley v Barnet or Chelmsford
Ebbsfleet United v Fleetwood Town
Bracknell Town or Ipswich Town v Buxton
Barnsley v Crewe Alexandra
