Town Play Cards Right

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 03/11/2013

GRIMSBY were fortunate to leave Woking with all three points yesterday thanks to a goal at the very start of the game and another at the very end. In between Woking were the better side in a scrappy game and the Cards deservedly equalised just before half time.

Ross Hannah gave Town the lead inside the first minute. Woking needlessly gave away a corner and Kerr the Woking defence stood like statues as Kerr's kick made its way to Hannah's head, and into the back of the net. But the goal didn't reflect any huge superiority by Grimsby and Woking soon found a foothold in the game with Scott Rendell and new loan signing Banya causing Grimsby some problems.

Woking drew level when Town failed to clear and excellent ball from the Woking midfield put Kevin Betsy though clear on goal, and the veteran winger made no mistake to score Woking's first goal for some time.

After the break Grimsby looked happy with the score of 1-1 and the home side had most of the ball. For all their possession though Woking didn't create a great many chances and as time progressed it looked for all the world that the game was about to peter to a disappointing draw. Town though had other ideas. Disley burst through into the Woking box deep in injury time and slotted it past Beasant.
