Ebbsfleet v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 30/11/2012

TOWN bosses Rob Scott and Paul Hurst have plenty to think about for their team selection for Saturday's game at Ebbsfleet. After the euphoria of the emphatic home wins over Woking and Braintree, Town have come back down to earth with two indifferent performances against Buxton.

There have been a number of changes for the two FA Trophy games with the Bucks, some enforced, others squad rotation, however the Town bosses will doubtless be looking for a return to league form and will pick a team likewise.

Their hands are tied to some extent due to injuries to two key players. Centre back Nathan Pond (knock) and winger Scott Neilson (groin) both face late fitness tests. Neilson is not expected to make it, but the situation with Pond is more hopeful. Midfielders Joe Colbeck (knee) and Frankie Artus (hernia) are still out and unlikely to feature.

Two players who may feature having been on the sidelines for most of the season are winger Louis Soares and striker Dayle Southwell, The pair both impressed in the recent games against Buxton. Loan striker Michael Rankine could also make his league debut for the Mariners,

Ebbsfleet may be near the bottom of the league but they have taken 11 points from the last 6 games, as opposed to Town's 12, so in recent form there is not much to choose between the teams. Central defender Paul Lorraine was sent off in the victory at Hereford at the weekend, so will be suspended.

Other players who look like they will be returning are strikers Nathan Elder (knock) and Matt Godden (illness).

The overnight temperature in Kent is not expected to go below zero so there is no question of the match not going ahead. Away fans can pay on the day at the turnstiles.
