Simon Ford Returns

DEFENDER Simon Ford has returned to Blundell Park eight years after leaving the Mariners for Bristol Rovers. Ford, who has signed a one year deal, played mainly for Town in the Championship and left when Grimsby were in what is now League One.

The 30-year-old Londoner only played one game for Rovers, then went on to play for Kilmarnock and Chesterfield. Ford has also played for Jamaica three times. He has had several serious injuries over the years which have restricted Ford to less than 300 games in over 11 years as a professional.

Ford has played for Grimsby in the pre-season friendlies against Barton Town and North Ferriby United. Ford will probably compete with centre-halves Ian Miller and Shaun Pearson for a starting place in the Grimsby side.
