We are Town!

Grimsby v York Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 24/02/2012

TOWN are forced to make several changes for Saturday's FA Trophy match with York when a place in the semi-finals is at stake. Town have four players cup-tied, two players injured and Anthony Elding is suspended after the FA gave the Town striker a controversial two match ban.

Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Louie Soares, Ian Miller and Kenny Arthur all ineligible to play in the FA Trophy having participated in the competition with previous clubs. Although Miller was the most likely to start, Soares would probably have made a long-awaited debut in light of the other absentees.

Garner sustained a knee injury when he was knocked out in the Southport game, and Frankie Artus picked up a knock on the same joint which will cause him a spell out of contention.

Shaun Pearson came on in place of Garner last weekend and is likely to continue in his place, and I'Anson will probably play in the other centre back berth.

Forgotten man Serge Makofo is likely to fill in on the left hand side of midfield and up front Duffy will be a straight swap for Elding, so there will probably be four enforced changes to Town's starting XI.

Town's long unbeaten run has coincided with a settled side so the enforced changes will make it a difficult task to beat one of the sides above them in the league.

York lost their first game this year in Wednesday's televised clash with Gateshead. The Minstermen probably deserved a draw in the game but lost due to two goals from ex-Town man Micky Cummings. Their only missing player is the injured defender David McGurk.

If the match is drawn there will be a replay on Tuesday night at York,
