Fans Can Help Beat the Snow

GRIMSBY are hoping the clash with York City on Saturday will beat the winter weather, but they need help from fans to clear the pitch of snow. Volunteers should report to the club from 7am and bring a spade or shovel!
Town were in a similar situation two years ago in a match with Lincoln and hard work from supporters enabled the match to go ahead when many others in the area were called off. Grimsby also won convincingly that day so getting the match on would be a good omen.
Town are virtually free of injuries again for the visit of the Minstermen, but also welcome back four cup-tied players to the squad. Ian Miller, Kiernan Hughes-Mason, Kenny Arthur and new signing winger Louie Soares were all unavailable for the FA Trophy game at Bath.
Centre back Ian Miller was the only player who had been in the previous league win over Telford, so is the most likely to return to the starting XI. Probably the next most likely to feature is new signing Louie Soares, yet to make his debut, but he may have to settle for a place on the bench if the managers want to stick with a winning side. Frankie Artus (groin) is a slight doubt so Soares could conceivably be selected ahead of him.
Competition for places on even the bench will be tough as Bradley Wood (ankle) is now back in contention. Wood lost his place when suspended to Gary Silk and has never had a chance to get back in the side since losing his place.
York with be the toughest opposition Town have faced for some time. Confidence is high at Blundell Park after a thirteen match unbeaten run that has taken Grimsby to one good result away from the play-offs. Town also could face York in the FA Trophy, as well as conceivably in the play-offs themselves. Almost half of the games remaining though are against the top sides, starting with fourth placed City, who haven't played for two weeks because of the winter weather.
