Cambridge v Grimsby Team News

GRIMSBY head to Cambridge tonight hoping to prove they can beat one of the teams above them in the division. Ironically the only time they have managed to do that was when Cambridge visited Blundell Park back in August.
Since then Town have generally picked off the lesser teams in the league, but have never beaten a top ten outfit other than the 2-1 victory over United. If they are to have any hope of challenging for the play-off spots the Mariners have to start taking points off the teams above them in the league. Cambridge currently sit in eighth place, five points ahead of Town,
Town's biggest problem is the goals they concede. The Mariners have rarely kept a clean sheet this season, and generally concede at least 2 goals to the top teams. This means they need to score at least 2 themselves to get anything from these games, a tall order against the best defences in the division. However they have had a long run without playing one of the top teams and their consistency during this time has seen them go nine league games since their last defeat.
Town look to continue with a similar lineup to the team that won 5-2 at Alfreton. Andi Thanoj is likely to continue in midfield, and Gary Silk at right back as Wood is still suspended. The only doubt is midfielder Anthony Church (back). New signing, striker Kiernan Hughes-Mason will be looking to make his full debut, but he's unlikely to be given the nod over either Hearn or Elding, and it's more likely that if he does begin the game it will be on one of the two wings,
Cambridge, who were impressive in the 3-0 televised clash over Southport, will be looking to play much the same side against Town. However centre-back Michael Wylde (groin), defender Rory McAuley (knee) and striker Michael Gash (knock) are all doubts..
