Town Sign Garner

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 07/07/2010

MANSFIELD central defender Scott Garner is today expected to sign for Grimsby in a two-year deal. The 20-year-old, who began his career at Leicester City but never played for the Foxes, has spent just one season in the Conference with the Stags where he made more than 40 appearances, scoring five times.

Garner has played once for a non-league England side (England C Under-23s) against Hungary in 2009, where he was made captain. The Coventry-born six footer has also captained the Stags on a number of occasions.

  • In other news former Grimsby Town striker Jean-Louis Akpa Akpro has signed for Rochdale in a two-year deal.
