Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Dagenham 0 Grimsby 0

GRIMSBY'S excellent record in London continued this afternoon with another away point in a grab goalless draw at Victoria Road. Daggers came closest to breaking the deadlock, striking the woodwork in the second half, and Town had 'keeper Phil Barnes to thank for a series of saves.

The first half was very short on meaningful action, with Town absorbing Dagenham pressure for long periods, and not creating much at the other end. Two headers from top scorer Strevens which went just over were the closest the East Londoners came to scoring. A fumble by the Dagenham 'keeper from a Fenton header from a corner was the closest Town came, but he grabbed the ball at the second attempt.

Town had great spells at the start and end of the second half. Danny North had two good chances to break the deadlock straight after the break, but was denied by the 'keeper.

Town's best chance fell to Hunt midway through the second period, when the ball was played to him in the box. Sadly he didn't react quickly enough and shinned the ball weakly straight at the keeper.

At the other end Dagenham's Jamie Taylor attempted a lob which went over Barnes and thankfully the goal too. The same player then struck the woodwork with a header a few minutes later.

Town had a good spell right at the end of the game in the last few minutes of injury time when they could have nicked it, but failed to make the most of a promising break.

Fans may say it was a poor result against a struggling side, but on reflection it was a good point given the balance of play.

A full report will appear later.
