Lawson Heads Home

SOUTHEND striker James Lawson has been allowed to return to Roots Hall after failing to settle in the Grimsby area, and getting limited opportunities of first team football. The 19-year-old had been in the middle of a one month loan spell.

Lawson came on as a second half substitute against Stockport, but the arrival of veteran striker Tony Thorpe, also on loan, from Stevenage, has ironically put Lawson down the pecking order - the reason why he came here in the first place.

"James came up to Grimsby but couldn't settle", Graham Rodger told Mariners Net. "He was homesick and asked if he could go back to Southend."
