Fundraising Ideas For The Parish

By: Mr T Harvey
Date: 01/11/2001

SINCE the Church's annual raffle tickets have been going so slowly, I felt it necessary to try and generate some new ideas to try and raise some badly needed funds for the "New Church Fund".

First of all, we have decided that to help our fund raising campaign, the prices for Mrs Ramsdens knitting lessons are to be slashed dramatically from £5 per month to £3.38 -that's 32.4% off last year's starting price! For ladies out there, if your husbands fancy a knit, you can get a combined monthly membership for just £6.76! (the 38p each membership covers the cost of a chocolate Hob Nob every month). We hope there will be a mass of people wanting to sign up, so call 785432 to do so.

My other ideas I hope will capture the imagination of you all. I am sure you are aware that since Mr Bells passed away three years ago, his shed next to my house has fallen into disrepair and has become unused. After much discussion with his next of kin, Mr Gerald Bells, I have negotiated a price of £11.50 for the shed which I will use to benefit the church community, by turning into a church stall!

In the last few months I have been keeping a very low profile, whilst the preparations for merchandise have begun. I am now pleased to tell you that I will have, in stock, the following items that will help support our fundraising effort:-

(Thanks to my friend "Mariner Nige" for some worthwhile inspiration for these products)

  • Replica drinking chalices with a St Blundell Parish badge inscribed upon
  • Holy hymn books written by the "Pontoon" cards club
  • Replica fonts - perfect to wash the Grandchildren in or even the alternative bird bath for the garden!
  • Replica bishop mitre's - (with a picture of Rev Furneaux on the top!) ideal for fancy dress
  • Religious insignia - including broaches, badges and beads, all with St Blundell Church pictures and logo's on.
  • Replica cassocks - Kindly sponsored by Mr T Dixons Garage, with a special number on the back for each church member. Also includes the Churches badge on.

I am sure that these merchandise items will make an enormous contribution to the church, not just financially, but commercially. I mean, how many other churches have replica cassocks? I am sure that these will all make excellent Christmas presents for the whole of the village people, and I look forward to the grand opening of the church stall on 7th November at 2.00pm, where I will be delighted to see you all. The bad news about this is that none of the stock will be on sale until March 2002. (Now what does that remind you of? - Ed)

Bye for now

Tim
