Sad End For Murray

By: Stephen Bateman
Date: 12/01/2001

Former Rangers star Neil Murray was dealt a cruel blow last night as it was revealed that he will not be featuring in any more games for the Mariners after being struck-down by illness. The 27-year old had been on a three-month loan spell from German side FC Mainz.

After making just two appearances for the Mariners, Murray has been diagnosed as suffering from a rare blood disorder which is currently being treated by medical staff. The Scottish midfielder has been sidelined since appearing as a substitute against Watford at the beginning of November. With the problem now diagnosed, it appears unlikely that Murray will be given any further opportunities to impress Mariners boss Lennie Lawrence and thereby win himself a permanent contract with the club.
