Season Officially Over

Date: 11/06/2020

GRIMSBY'S 2019-2020 season has officially ended with the Mariners awarded 15th spot based on PPG. The top three clubs (Swindon, Crewe and Plymouth) have been promoted to League One, while Cheltenham, Exeter, Colchester and Northampton will participate in a playoff series behind closed doors.

The League One and League clubs all voted to end their seasons, except for the playoff games.

The three clubs relegated from League One (Tranmere, Southend and Bolton) are likely to all be expected to challenge for honours once the 2020-21 season gets underway, based on their stature and fan base.

The only remaining issue is whether Stevenage or Macclesfield get demoted. Stevenage would normally be the relegated club, but Macclesfield have got a hearing pending for being unable to fulfil a fixture, and a points deduction commensurable with those already received would push the below the abyss.

The National League are to promote Barrow and the winner of their play-offs.
