Council Ponders Part 2

By: Todd Bontoft
Date: 04/08/2000

The official reasons for this motion, as recorded in the council's minutes, are:

  1. the alteration is contrary to policy VH3, in that the retail development and football stadium would have a detrimental effect on the village of Great Coates;
  2. the alteration is contrary to policy S1, in that the retail development would have detrimental effect on the local town centre.

VH3 and S1 sound like strange formulae found in trendy hair shampoos.

Not surprisingly, the letter urges any member of the public looking to overturn the council's decision "to seek independent legal advice on the matter".

Still where there's a will there's a way - so they say. And it is possible for the council to reconsider its decision.

One final point, the letter states that "your comments have been noted and placed on file together with other comments received about the local plan and the football stadium".

All letters and e-mails objecting to the council's decision received by North East Lincolnshire's planning department are taken into account. Helping, if nothing else, overturn the decision through the long drawn out route of an appeal.
