A DRAMATIC climax earned Grimsby their first away points of the season with a late 3-2 win at Carlisle. Town were losing 0-1 and 1-2 and lost their keeper with a freak knee injury in the aftermath of the first goal.

Youth team 'keeper Seb Auton made an unexpected debut with the team losing 1-0 and nearly 80 minutes of the game remaining. There was another goal apiece before the break, then the Mariners rallied in the second half and drew the game level with 10 minutes to go from a Cass header. The best was left until near the end when Rodgers powered in a short corner to grab all three points.

Tharme came into the side in a back three and Wilson replaced the injured Vernan, meaning Grimsby went to 3-5-2 to accommodate the enforced changes. Green was suspended after last week's sending-off.

Poor defending from an early corner saw Levelle flick the ball in from the near post, in a repeat of the early Barrow goals. Eastwood was injured in the netting and was stretchered off after 12 minutes. Youth team 'keeper Seb Auton was probably expecting to be a spectator for 90 minutes but was called on to make his league debut. Town fought back and levelled when Luca Barrington received a defence-splitting Denver Hume pass and slotted in the leveller.

Within 3 minutes though Carlisle were in front again. Town had chances to clear the ball but it was played back into the penalty box and Lavelle ghosted in at the far post to send the home side back in front. There were no further goals in an even first half.

Town improved after the break and had the majority of possession. They looked the most likely to score and finally did when substitute Cass benefitted from another great Hulme ball.

Harvey Rodgers completed a fine turnaround as Grimsby Town secured a last-gasp 3-2 win at Carlisle United to snag their first away win since April.

Mike Williamson looked destined to earn his first home win since taking charge at Brunton Park but Lewis Cass levelled and steered in another superb Hulme cross to level the game with 10 minutes left. In the final minute, a well-disguised short corner was played back to Ainley who picked out Rodgers for another last winner.

It was no more than Town deserved after their second-half performance. Things didn't go for them at the start of the game, but the Mariners regrouped and found a way to win the game from adversity. It will give the Mariners a lot of confidence when they head to leaders Gillingham on Tuesday night. Denver Hulme was the stand out player for the Mariners, but special mention must go to rookie keeper Seb Auton who slotted in in the most difficult of circumstances and made several first half saves.
