Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Barrowed Time

POOR defending in the first half saw Town concede two early goals to Barrow from corners. Kieran Green pulled a goal back just before the break to give Grimsby a lifeline. The Mariners made a strong start to the second half but could not sustain their momentum.

In the end, Barrow could have added more and Town had to rely on a goal-line clearance from Tyrell Warren to keep them in the game but ultimately succumbed 1-2.

Jake Eastwood replaced Jordan Wright in goal; otherwise, the same team lost to Chesterfield last week.

Town started poorly and gifted Barrow two goals from similar corners when they didn't pick up runners who were able to flick the ball into the net unchallenged. Grimsby improved in the last 15 minutes of the first half, and pulled one back from a good move culminating in a perfect Svanthorsson cross and a glancing Green header to make the score 2-1.

Town came out strongly at the start of the second half but failed to create much with the final ball frequently not picked out by a home player. The game fizzled out and the Mariners didn't have the quality on the bench to really change the game.

The Mariners find themselves in the bottom four and have to hope that players returning from injury add to what looks at the moment like a thin squad.
