GRIMSBY staged a remarkable comeback last night, overturning a 2-0 half-time deficit to run out 4-3 winners at Aldershot. A double substitution at half-time proved the turning point, with Omar Bogle scoring one and setting up the other three Grimsby goals.

Patrick Hoban started for Town alongside Amond, and Gregor Robertson came in at left back. Town had a bright opening five minutes but soon began to flounder and found it difficult to break Aldershot down, although Amond should have done better when he scuffed a chance.

Aldershot took the lead with a deflected Walker free kick from 30-yards out. The goal, which had been slightly against the run of play, inspired the home side and Rasulo soon added a second, finding a gap in the Town defence and drilling the ball past McKeown.

It was a disappointing end to the half. Town had created very little and Aldershot had converted two of their chances, giving the Mariners a mountain to climb.

Paul Hurst brought on for Jordan Stewart and Bogle for Monkhouse and Hoban respectively, and it soon paid dividends.

Bogle had a good chance from an early corner but his header was tipped wide by Smith. A few minutes later the big Town striker powered through the Aldershot defence and crossed for Amond to head home Town's opener.

Four minutes later Arnold curled a cross which this time Bogle headed past Smith to level the game.

Both sides had chances for the fifth goal but it was Town who completed the comeback when Nolan's free kick was met by the unmarked Arnold to volley home from close range.

Just as it looked as though Town had completed the comeback Aldershot reminded everyone that they were not out of it when a long range from Browne squeezed past McKeown.

However, Town's winner was pure fortune when Nolan's late cross from 40 yards out nestled in the top corner for a wonder goal, albeit totally unintentional.

The Mariners had to navigate five minutes of injury time but held out to bounce back from two defeats with a morale-boosting win. The team that started the first half proved much superior to the starting lineup and Stewart and Bogle much surely be in the frame to start against Eastleigh.
