Grimsby v Newport Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 19/04/2013

GRIMSBY and Newport meet at Blundell Park on Saturday in a possible dress rehearsal of the first play-off semi final. Newport will play either Grimsby or Wrexham in the first semi - Town have to better Wrexham's result against Mansfield to finish above the Dragons.

The match therefore matters slightly more to Grimsby than it does to Newport as County are guaranteed to finish third whatever combination of results take place in the final games. However both teams are going to want to give a good account of themselves against a fellow promotion rival, albeit perhaps resting one or two players and trying to avoid injuries and suspensions.

Town have two players out injured, ironically squad members who have come to the forefront while playing to allow other squad members to be rested.

Lennel John-Lewis and Simon Ford both took knocks in the game at Woking and will be out of action for at least a week. Ross Hannah (paternity leave), Disley, Pearson, Hearn and McKeown have all got over their respective ailments and are available for selection.

Fishy Prediction: Grimsby 2 Newport 0
