Mansfield v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 28/12/2012

LIFE without departed loanees Ross Hannah and Scott Neilson proved not as hard as many had feared, with Town winning 4-1 at Lincoln on Boxing Day. However Mansfield away will be an equally hard challenge for Town against another of the division's in-from sides.

Grimsby's main injury doubt is full back Sam Hatton who limped off at Lincoln on Boxing Day with a knee injury, although Bradley Wood is a ready-made replacement for the right back.

Two other loan players Pond (Fleetwood) and Marshall (Bury) also have loan spells which terminate in the New Year, and Grimsby are trying to extend their services as well as those of Bradford's Ross Hannah (now back at Valley Parade). The pair will however both be eligible to play in the next two games against Mansfield and the return match with Lincoln.

Town will hope that Mansfield will have their eyes on the FA Cup tie with Liverpool on January 5th. The Stags lost to Alfreton on Boxing Day and the big match with the Premier League club may be distracting their players from the task in hand, although don't expect that to happen twice!

Mansfield will be without defender Ritchie who picked up his fifth yellow card against Alfreton and is suspended for the Grimsby game. Midfielder Adam Murray is fit again after recovering from a viral infection. Defender Ryan Tafazolli and striker Ross Dyer (knee) are both ruled out with injuries.
