Beat the Bookies (Summer): Week 10

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 02/08/2012

MARK Cavendish was a total failure in the Road Race. We didn't make much money though as we only laid him to win. Still with plenty of other Olympic events to back on there's no shortage of things to bet on.

Rugby League

  • London Broncos v Salford - home win (2.8, Bet 365). London Broncos have improved since they sacked their manager recently. Last weekend they genuinely challenged Catalans Dragons away, so should have gained a lot from that performance. They've got the squad to be a lot better than bottom of the league.

    Olympics

  • 400m Hurdles - Felixe Sanchez (first 3) (5.0, 5Dimes). Felixe Sanchez won this event 8 years ago. He's 34 now but set a new 400m indoor hurdles record in February. So a place looks a good bet. The same bookies are offering 90/1 on him to win, which has to be worth a dollar as well!
  • Women's Football Winner - Team GB (6.5, Spread Ex). Team GB need to beat Canada, then probably USA to reach the final. The Americans are the real test one suspects. Still the women have looked the business so far in their games and qualified with a perfect record.
