Town Gain Point

GRIMSBY'S season continued its sluggish end with another draw, although Town deserve to come away with credit for twice coming from behind to grab a draw at Wrexham. The result meant Fleetwood are Champions.

Grimsby were at the Racecourse, but were not at the races in the first half, as the home side dominated. Midway through the first half the home side scored from a corner when Speight blundled it home from slose range.

After the break Church and Hughes-Mason were replaced by Thanoj and Elding, as Town switched to a 4-3-3 formation. The Mariners were much improved and soon took the lead when Elding headed in an Artus cross.

Westwood restored the lead for Wrexham, but Town saved the best until last. With 8 minutes to go Thanoj scored an individual goal with a great run and drive from 22 yards past the 'keeper.

It wasn't this weekend that the points they needed to get into the play-offs were lost. The start of the season is where Town let themselves down. However, the form, since October, if maintained next season, should see Grimsby present more of a challenge next season.
