Question of the Week

Where will Grimsby finish?

Crewe v Grimsby Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 09/03/2010

TONIGHT'S game at Crewe is subject to a noon pitch inspection after heavy overnight frosts in the Cheshire region. A local match official will make the inspection and decide on the game's viability before Grimsby set off for the evening kick-off.

Assuming the game does go ahead Town central defender Olly Lancashire is a doubt with a recurrence of the foot injury that forced him to limp off recently at Dagenham.

Other doubts are strikers Tommy Wright (Achilles) and Ashley Chambers (foot) but Woods would have been unlikely to have started with either of them in any case after the team finally recorded their first win in living memory on Saturday.

Crewe will again be without top scorer Calvin Zola, who caused Grimsby no end of problems in the 4-0 defeat in the season's opening home game. However his replacement Clayton Donaldson is in fine form and scored two goals against Barnet on Saturday.

Crewe have several players coming back from injury. Midfielder Steven Schumacher and captain defender Mat Mitchel-King were both on the bench against Barnet but could well step up into the starting line-up.

Grimsby have two away games this week and ideally need to win at least one of them to try and lift themselves away from the bottom two.
