A 19-year-old striker loaned from Championship strugglers Southend United for one month. However after making one sub appearance the youngster was allowed to return to Southend after telling Graham Rodger he was home sick.
James has played quite a few times for Southend, and was recently involved in their 1-0 Carling Cup win over Manchester United. Lawson has been at Roots Hall since his promotion to the first team in November 2004.
He also has spent time on loan at Bournemouth
