Why Fixtures Change

BOTH the Stockport and Wycombe games have now been rescheduled to Friday's to avoid the World Cup qualifying fixtures involving England.

The club has been criticised in the past for not switching games to accommodate international matches and with the success of last season's Friday night fixtures the matches were rearranged for commercial reasons.

The games that were switched last season proved to be a great success. Over 6,000 fans pitching up for the Friday game against Cheltenham, with 1,800 free juniors boosting the gate.

Changing the Christmas game against Oxford United to a Friday also proved to be a winner with Mariners' fans, almost 5,000 turned out for the game that was billed as the 'Christmas Cracker'.

Also, moving the Cheltenham games has been done on a reciprocal basis, avoiding Town incurring overnight costs for the game that was originally scheduled for Saturday 15th October.
