Chester Sack Stan!

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 14/04/2005

ASHLEY Sestanovich has had his contract terminated with Grimsby's League Two rivals Chester City for "persistent misdemeanours". The former Mariner has now been axed by three clubs in as many months. Grimsby, Sheffield United and now Chester have all dismissed the temperamental midfielder.

Chester chairman Stephen Vaughan explained: "We have terminated his contract due to persistent non-football-related misdemeanours which were harmful to the club."

Stan's last game for the Mariners was a four minute substitute appearance against Northampton at Blundell Park in January, in which he was dismissed for foul and abusive language towards the referee. A warrant was also issued for Sestanovich's arrest after he failed to turn up in a Grimsby court to face a driving offence.

Following his release from Blundell Park, where he was on a season-long loan from Sheffield United, the Blades rid their hands of him to allow Stan the opportunity to move to Chester.

The big winger made just three starts for Chester in his time at the Diva stadium.

Despite Sestanovich's undoubted talent, the 23-year-old now faces an uncertain future in the game due to the continual problems that surround him.
