Robinson Pleased With Mariners Deal!

GRIMSBY Town's new loan striker Paul Robinson has today revealed how difficult it has been living away from his family while playing for Wimbledon. The 23-year old is pleased that he has moved further north to play for the Mariners.
Speaking to the Grimsby Telegraph of his initial transfer from Newcastle to the Dons, the Sunderland-born striker said: "When I first signed everyone was happy for me. But then a month or two after that I realised how hard it was to be away from my family.
"It's nobody's fault but my own that it hasn't worked out. I'm a mammy's boy and I missed my Mam, my Dad and my dog. It's a lot easier being further up north and my family came down for the Wednesday game.
"That was the first game my Dad has been to watch me play in for two years. Everyone was jumping ship at Wimbledon and I wanted to get out and get further north and closer home."
Robinson is keen to impress at Blundell Park, admitting his nightmare at Wimbledon can't end soon enough. "There are three weeks of the season left and three games so if I can do well, who knows what will happen in the summer," continued Robinson.
"I just want to do as well as I can for Grimsby. I want to get in the team now and still be in the team when they're in the first division next year. If I do well Grimsby might keep me, or somebody else might come in for me."
Thursday March 28 was to be a busy day for the former Magpie as he told the story of his deadline day deal. "I was shopping in Sainsbury's and got into the house at about 3.30pm. My agent rang me to tell me Grimsby wanted me and to get down to Selhurst Park.
"I never thought twice about coming and jumped in the car and had to fight my way through the traffic. I didn't get to the ground until 4.45pm and the deal went through at five minutes to five.
"I was over the moon. When Thursday came and nobody came in for me I thought that was it for the summer. But this has given me a lifeline and I hope I can repay it."
