My Black and White Hero: Chris Nicholl

MY Black and White Hero is Chris Nicholl who came to Grimsby Town from Southampton. It was the summer of 1984 and I was just ready to leave school.

We had to pick a topic for our English oral exam - my mate and I were mad on the Mariners so we decided to choose a Town Player.
At that time the Mariners used King George Stadium a lot for their training, so we went down and picked Chris Nicholl. We went up to him and asked a few questions about his career and obliged us with some good answers. The day came to do our oral exam, and when I told my teacher who I'd picked she asked why?? I replied that he's the best payer we've ever had.
