Shaun Cunnington One of the most popular Town players of the last 10/15 years. Cunnington was signed by Bobby Roberts from Wrexham in 1987. However it was under Alan Buckley that Shaun flourished, developing a great midfield partnership with John Cockerill.

Captain Cunnington was most effective with his direct running, with or with out the ball. In the summer of '92 Cunnington left for Sunderland for £650,000.

At Roker Park he was mainly deployed on the right wing. Alan Buckley then took him West Brom to form a partnership with, his Town replacement, Paul Groves. Neither were a success and Shaun left for Notts County. Shaun ended his career at Kidderminster Harriers and is currently youth coach there.

Next Player: Murray Jones
