Buckley Not Pleased!

By: Bill Osborne
Date: 26/12/2006

TOWN boss Alan Buckley was not pleased by the 2-0 defeat at Hartlepool saying that Town went down without a fight and that the marking gave the opposition two easy goals.

"I thought that without us looking like scoring, nil-nil was about right at half time. I thought that we were quite well organised.

"I thought at half-time that we need to make more of a game of it and we would try our normal 4-4-2. The way we had weathered the first half I thought we would cause them a lot of problems second half, playing our normal way. But for some reason we never really responded and we handed them the initiative."

"Our goalkeeper hasn't really had a shot to save. They've done us by two set-plays. We knew they were really good at them but we dealt with them very well in the first half."

"A free header, Justin said he slipped, no marking. The second one perturbs me because the lad's swept the ball in from about seven yards out from a corner - you've got to say the marking was very poor or non-existent."

"Obviously they then got a bit of room and we got a bit ragged. We changed the system a couple of times with substitutions to try and get a response but we sort of died a death without a whimper."

"I'm really disappointed. It's not losing, we don't like losing, but if you lose you go down fighting. I don't think we did go down fighting today. "

"Maybe it's the first time I can have a go at them for that."
