AN FA disciplinary commission will consider on Tuesday Town striker Gary Jones' appeal against his red card received against Lincoln City last week. Jones was dismissed in injury time for an elbow on Imps defender Gareth McAuley.

The video shows the challenge to be fairly innocuous, and both McAuley and Lincoln boss Keith Alexander have testified in favour of Gary Jones.

If the appeal is successful Town's leading scorer will be available for the play-off final in Cardiff five days later. Otherwise the former Tranmere striker, who scored the winning goal in both legs against Lincoln, will have to watch from the stands.

Town boss Russell Slade said told the Grimsby Telegraph: "Our appeal has gone in and we will know the verdict next week. I'm not sure whether we can have any representation at the hearing but we have sent written statements stating Gary's case."

Gary Jones has scored the winning goal in nine matches for Grimsby this season and has found the net on a total of 17 occasions.

  • Coach travel to Cardiff is available with seats costing £25 from Bernard Morley on (01472) 234592. The coaches leave from the Kent Arms, Kent Street at 6am on Sunday 28th May.

  • Tickets can now be purchased for the final at Cardiff on-line. £25 and £50 tickets for the match on Sunday May 28th are available Here.
