Bradford Friendly

Bradford Friendly Confirmed

News from 3rd August 2000

Blundell Park

It was confirmed today that the pre-season friendly against Premiership side Bradford City will take place at Blundell Park next Tuesday. The Bantams lost 3-0 last night in Russia against Zenit St Petersburg (4-0 on aggregate), which means that the Yorkshire side will come back down to Earth from failing to qualify (via the back door) for Europe with a pre-season friendly in Cleethorpes!

Ex-Town keeper Aidan Davison is unlikely to start in the game as Bradford boss Chris Hutchings has generally given City's other goalies (Matt Clarke and Gary Walsh) the nod so far in Bradford's pre-season games. The former Mariner may well though appear as a substitute, as most games at this stage of the season can involve up to 20 players on each side with no limit to the number of substitutions allowed.

City have some well-known names in their squad these days including much-travelled Romanian Dan Petrescu (who scored against Town for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge), Welshman Dean Saunders, Leeds old boys Gunner Halle and David Hopkin and former Manchester United player Lee Sharpe.

Adult tickets cost £5 with concessions just £1.The club shop will be open on Saturday from 9am to 3pm and tickets are available on the credit card hotline on Grimsby 605050.
