Shaun Pearson Departs

ASSISTANT head coach Shaun Pearson has left the club. Pearson made the transition from player to the coaching staff in the summer of 2023, after making over 200 appearances as a player. Although unconfirmed, it's believed that he will be joining Lincoln City in a coaching role.

He remained in place when David Artell joined as manager and has had a key role during Artell's tenure, and will be sorely missed.

Pearson, in a statement, said: "Leaving hasn’t been an easy decision, but I feel the time is right for me to step away, spend some quality time with my family and then explore new opportunities that will help me continue developing as a coach.

"I’d like to thank everyone I’ve had the pleasure of working with over the years – my teammates, fellow coaches, staff and volunteers – for their support, friendship and professionalism.

"Most importantly, I’d like to thank you, the supporters. Your passion and unwavering backing have never gone unnoticed. Whether at Blundell Park or on the road, you’ve always been there, and it has been an honour to represent you both as a player and as a coach."

Grimsby will no doubt already be underway making whatever appointments are necessary to replace Pearson.
