Town Slay Dragons

GRIMSBY consolidated their third spot in the table with a fine win over the division's form side Wrexham. Town took an early lead thanks to a Craig Disley strike from a corner kick, and then held on for the entire game to pick up another 1-0 victory.

Craig Clay came into the side to boost the midfield in a windswept Blundell Park and the Mariners took the lead when a corner from the left saw the ball worked out to Disley, who drilled a strike high into the net to give Town a 1-0 lead.

Hoban was unlucky not to score when his effort hit the crossbar, as the Mariners had the better of the first half.

Wrexham improved after the break but Town had the better chances on the break. Nolan broke through on one breakaway, and did everything right, except his shot whistled just past the post. Hoban had another effort hit the woodwork, and Arnold failed to make a decent cross when a Town break free in the box.

Wrexham threatened late on and had a couple of shouts for a penalty but, in the end, Town came away deserved victors.
