Town Draw Blank Again

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 08/10/2014

GRIMSBY Town once again drew a blank at Blundell Park last night, frustrating the fans, many of whom had stayed away in protest at the team's poor form. The Mariners dominated the game against Altrincham, but could not create enough chances to win the game.

Aswad Thomas made a surprise return at left back, with Toto Nsiala suspended, meaning a reshuffle of the back four with Magnay going to left back. Neilson also returned in midfield after being dropped for Dartford. Town returned to a 4-5-1 formation.

Town dominated the first 15 minutes and then McKeown kept Town in the game with a good save to deny the visitors after 20 mins. Then Coburn made a good save to deny McLaughlin after good work by Makreth.

The second half followed a similar pattern with Town having the bulk of the pattern but creating very little despite all the pressure. Altrincham looked dangerous on their few forays up the pitch.

Grimsby though created worrying few chances for all their possession and they desperately need a new striker to put some of the chances away. If they fail to start winning soon manager Paul Hurst will pay the ultimate price for failing to match fans' expectations.

The Mariners have already failed to beat Dover, Nuneaton, Altrincham and Southport at home. all of which were home "bankers".
