Macclesfield v Grimsby Team News

GRIMSBY head to Macclesfield for the start of a new month, which could turn out to be one of the most significant in their history. If maximum points are secured during the month it could give Town an insurmountable lead going into the final few games.
On the other hand a dip in form could see Grimsby have to settle for a play-off place, which is still not certain for any team, with what looks like five teams challenging for the top five places.
At the end of the month lies Wembley but the result there will have little bearing on Town's future. The Wembley game is the least important match of the season so far - there are fourteen "Cup Finals" which Town need to compete in the league.
One thing which may well prove crucial is the squad. Town's busy schedule (like most clubs have) means they will be playing twice a week and changes can be expected as routine in any game. For the home game with Ebbsfleet the managers rotated both forward positions and it wouldn't be a big surprise if they did so again. Joe Colbeck could also return to play in the televised clash at Macclesfield, as he was rested on Tuesday.
One definite change is Sean Pearson, who has a knee injury, and will miss the next few games. Derby on-loan defender Tom Naylor proved a timely signing last week, as he'll be able to slot in in Pearson's place.
Simon Ford definitely won't feature for the club again as he has gone on loan to Telford. where he can probably benefit Town more than sat in the stand, because the basement side are due to play several of Town's promotion rivals.
Macclesfield striker Amari Morgan-Smith has returned from a loan spell at Kidderminster and is available.
Macclesfield lost 4-0 at home to Gateshead last week but have been otherwise solid, so that result can probably be regarded as a one-off.
