Grimsby v Macclesfield Team News

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 26/10/2012

GRIMSBY look to put two consecutive Blundell Park defeats behind them when they face Macclesfield at home on Saturday. The Mariners will be hoping to transfer their away form, where Grimsby remain unbeaten, to Blundell Park.

They will be helped by the prospective return of four players who were either injured or rested for the cup clash with Kidderminster. Defenders Shaun Pearson and Aswad Thomas could return to reassemble the back four which were ever-present during the recent unbeaten run. Other returnees could be midfielder Craig Disley and on-loan striker Ross Hannah, who was cup tied at the weekend..

Disley is the most likely not to make it as the foot injury which caused him to limp out the FA Cup tie is still troubling him, but the club are hopeful it will heal in time for the weekend.

Macclesfield have Grimsby-born ex-Town midfielder Peter Winn on their books. Winn was on loan from Stevenage at Grimsby at the end of last season, but he hasn't started recently for the ex-League club

The Silkmen started the season well after their relegation from the Football League, but have drifted down the table in recent weeks, and have not won for six league games.
