Hearn Major Injury Blow

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 21/08/2012

STRIKER Liam Hearn will be out of action for several months after a scan today revealed that last season's leading scorer has ruptured his Achilles on his left leg. An Achilles rupture is one of the most feared injuries in sport, and it takes many weeks to fully recover from.

It is a bitter blow for the Mariners, who have missed Hearn's goals in the first three games of the season, and Town are yet to record their first win. Hearn had had a calf injury with his right leg - the other leg to the one which ruptured - that caused him to miss most of the pre-season.

Hearn will have to undergo a surgical repair to his Achilles, followed by four to six weeks in a plaster cast, and then a spell in a supportive cushioned piece of footwear called a "cast boot".

The striker is unlikely to feature for Town much before Christmas.
