Beat the Bookies (Summer): Week 3

By: Rob Sedgwick
Date: 15/06/2012

LAST week Widnes came so close to beating London Broncos. Sadly the home side came up with a last minute winner which earned them all 2 points and lost us our bet. In the other game Leeds were abysmal, enough said about that tip.

Euro 2012

Now that we've seen all of the teams play you can have a bit of an idea about what's likely to happen. Nobody has qualified after two games, and only one team has been eliminated, which shows how close the groups are. None of the games are easy to predict, and there have not been many upsets either.

  • Czech Republic v Poland - Czech Republic (3.5, Marathon). Russia are clearly the best team in this group, and should qualify. Of the others though the Czechs look the best placed to finish second. Poland don't seem to have benefited to much from home advantage.

  • France v Ukraine - Ukraine (4.6, Marathon). France looked good against England, but they were fairly predictable and England managed to contain then. Ukraine will have learned from that, but what they have that England don't is a world class goal scorer. That and home advantage should give Ukraine the edge.
