Posh Up the Ante

PETERBOROUGH have upped their offer for Town captain Ryan Bennett after having had an initial fee turned down last week for the 19-year-old Player of the Year. Posh director of football Barry Fry has stated that an increased bid for an undisclosed amount has been submitted and the Championship side are awaiting from a response to the latest offer.

"I'm out in Portugal at the moment for the chairman's conference and I have spoken to John Fenty and we have upped our original bid," Fry told skysports.com.

"We are now just waiting to get a response to our improved offer. We love to bring in young and hungry players whom are eager to learn and want to improve themselves at this club, so Bennett does fit the mould in that sense.

Peterborough's first offer was rejected out of hand by the GTFC board with John Fenty describing it as "derisory".

Bennett has two years remaining on his contract at Blundell Park.

Grim Rob Says Every player has their price as Man Utd showed today with Ronaldo. It's only worth doing business with Peterborough if the club's debts can be cleared and a squad assembled capable of challenging at the top of League Two with the proceeds of the sale.
