Beat the Bookies: Week 9

JEAN-PAUL Kalala's last gasp goal meant those who took up Beat the Bookies' suggestion last week of Grimsby to beat Tottenham would have benefited to the tune of a minimum of 5-1.

This week the most important factor is the sheer number of games Grimsby are playing. Cup runs are draining mentally and physically, and Town hung on for a point at Boston against ten men at the weekend. For this reason, and with the Newcastle game still at the back of the players' minds it is hard to look further than bet365.com's 5/2 for Notts County to beat Town at Blundell Park. County are just three points behind Town and have only lost once on their travels all season.
Elsewhere in the division there is a full midweek programme. Peterborough look good value at 9/5 with bet365.com to win at Cheltenham. Posh, like Town, have an excellent away record, and have won 3 out of 5 games so far on their travels.
Looking further up the league Hull City are a very generous 16/5 to beat Norwich City at Carrow Road. The Tigers have started reasonably in the Championship by all accounts, despite having suffered with a large number of injuries so far. Norwich, in contrast, have struggled since their relegation from the Premiership and have only won one game at home all season.
Once again it is a choice between two candidates: Notts County to beat Grimsby and Hull to beat Norwich. The deciding factor is County's poor results in recent games, which might see Town scrape through with at least a draw on Tuesday night.
