Slade Eyes Reeves

RUSSELL Slade is refusing to be drawn on whether or not veteran striker David Reeves is a Grimsby target. After conflicting reports in the press over Town's interest in the former Spireite, Slade today conceded to Radio Humberside: "he's a possible, without saying too much."

36-year-old Reeves, who Slade has admitted he was interested in during the summer, has just left Irish Premier League side Ards, who are experiencing financial problems. The much-travelled forward is probably best known to Town fans for his hattrick aginst Grimsby in the infamous 4-4 draw at Saltergate last season.

Slade is also looking at Dutch striker Sergio Ommel, who played in today's reserve cup game with Hartlepool.

The Town boss has had numerous forwards on trial since he arrived at Blundell Park, but has yet to encounter Mr Right. With the Mariners struggling to make the most of their best chances in games, an experienced forward is becoming an urgent requirement before the season is too old.
