Wijnard "No Show" Explained

By: Tony Hamilton
Date: 29/07/2003

CLYDE Wijnard's absence earlier this week has now been explained, and the former Ajax striker will be at Grimsby Town on Thursday to undertake a trial with the Mariners. Wijnhard had been expected to arrive at Blundell Park on Monday, but failed to arrive.

The 30-year-old forward had a serious knee injury last season while playing for Oldham Athletic and the reason why he didn’t show for his trial on Monday is because he stayed behind at Boundary Park for more treatment to his injured leg.

Wijnard revealed he will be ready to play when his serious knee injury has recovered, which should be in a matter of days. "Everything is fine now I am doing weights and running", Wijnard told the club's official web site.
