Taylor Gives His View On Saturday's Game

By: Richard Lord
Date: 14/03/2002

INJURED Wolves striker and former Grimsby loan player Robert Taylor believes that his side are certainties to gain promotion to the Premiership but also feels that the Mariners will give it all they've got when they come to Molineux on Saturday.

Speaking to the Evening Telegraph of his current team Wolves, Taylor said: "I think they'll definitely go up because they're 11 points clear of third place. But it will be tough for Wolves because Grimsby are desperate for points.

"It will be a tough game for Grimsby because the lads are flying at the minute - especially at home. It's always hard playing teams at the bottom when they're fighting for the lives. It should be an interesting game. I hope Grimsby go and do well. I really do."

The 30-year old's comments may be a signal of his intentions to get himself fit and return to Blundell Park in the near future. Taylor continued: "I'm working hard to get my fitness up now. I was just starting to get fit when I was up there.

"I need to play games and get away for the last four weeks of the season. I'd like to come back to Grimsby and it would be good to get back up there. But I have to get fit in the next fortnight so that I can turn around to a club and tell them I'm fit.

"Grimsby are struggling and if they're not sure that I'm fit enough I'd understand if they looked elsewhere." The former Gillingham marksman is still recovering from the Achilles injury he picked up when playing for Town in the televised game at Watford.

"I'd like to forget about the last 18 months and get into pre-season so that I can crack on for next year," he concluded.
