Striker 2nd Chance

By: Fast Ted
Date: 17/03/2001

As revealed by Billo and Radio Humberside yesterday, Mrs Turbot the tea-lady's move to Kidderminster Harriers has fallen through after the pacy striker failed a medical at the third division no-hoper club.

Kidderminster, who swooped to out-bid Town in a three figure deal are very disappointed at their failure to capture the signature of this highly promising striker / char-lady. A club spokesman commented "X-Rays revealed damaged stockings, plus the brew that she made for the gaffer was very poor. Too milky".

It is also thought that despite being asked to bring bourbons to the club, she was only able to provide custard-creams, and this seems to have been the clincher.

Mrs Turbot (55), who was injured in a tea-urn/cake trolley incident whilst on trial at Grimsby last week has scored two goals for Nunsthorpe Spar Ladies FC this season which attracted the interest of Lennie Lawrence "She could be the solution to the goal drought at Blundell park this year" he said a while ago.

With Mrs Turbot's career in the balance,a GTFC spokesman said this morning: "Maybe we'll make another move for her, though I doubt we can compete with the sort of silly money that Kidderminster are throwing about".

Goal hungry Town fans will have to wait and see.

Meanwhile, Mrs Turbot will be doing the teas at Wybers Wood Church group jumble sale on Sunday, morning. "I'm just taking each brew as it comes love" she said.
