Where will Grimsby finish?

Livvo In Shock Return

By: Stephen Bateman
Date: 12/12/2000

In light of the recent controversies at Blundell Park, Town manager Lennie Lawrence will be delighted to hear some good news for a change. Steve Livingstone returned to training on Tuesday and it appears that he may be available for selection against Wimbledon after all.

"Livvo's in the frame, which is great news - I don't know what it is with backs! One minute you're in agony, the next you're fit. We'll see what tomorrow brings, but I hope that he's okay to play because that would be a real boost for us up front," said a relieved Lawrence. Stacey Coldicott also seems ready to make a comeback for the Mariners on Wednesday night after reporting no problems during training. Remaining on a positive note, it has also emerged that full-back John McDermott has not broken his toe, as was first feared. X-rays on his damaged foot revealed severe bruising, and it is hoped that McDermott will be back in training later this week. "It's still very sore so he won't play at Wimbledon but the fact that there's no break, so far as the doctors can tell, is good news," commented Lawrence. Finally, defender Zhang Enhua has returned to Cleethorpes after a trip back to his native China in order that he may secure a work permit. Zhang's trip was successful, and it is hoped that the FA will now clear him to play in Saturday's home tie against Norwich.
